Why Take a Workshop? Education and training are essential to Cal-Earth's vision. We believe that shelter is a basic human right and that every person should be able to build a home for him or herself. For those interested in learning to build with the earth, Cal-Earth offers Core Curriculum sessions throughout the year. These are hands-on workshops for people who want to learn to build from earth and the elements. The workshops give the chance to focus on learning the unique Earthbuilding (Superadobe) techniques developed at Cal-Earth as well as traditional earth building techniques, in the serene and instructive setting of the Cal-Earth prototypes. Teaching methods are in the tradition of Nader Khalili with philosophy, design theory, and principles of the arch taught through hands-on experience. Thousands of students have gone through our unique programs, many of whom have gone on to build all throughout the world. PLEASE NOTE: ALL WORKSHOPS ARE HELD AT CAL-EARTH How Does Core Curriculum work? The Core Curriculum is a series of weekend sessions. Classes may be completed at your own pace. We will offer our Weekend Series in two Phases, which can be taken individually in either order (no prerequisite required). These two phases, titled "A" and "B" Weekend are also offered in a combined 4 day intensive in February and September annually. Upon completion of the core curriculum, you will have the knowledge to build your home, your school, or your community with the earth beneath your feet! See classes offered below: |
